Software & Skills
Life's value cannot be determined. Everyone deserves a fun and interactive experience to seek through the manipulation of biomorphic forms. Anish Kapoor's awe-inspiring masterpieces will take centre stage in the revitalized Barrack Street, now officially christened 'Sculptures In The City!' Renowned for his monumental stainless-steel column-like sculptures that play with and alter light, Kapoor's creations will redefine our perception of the surroundings.
The redesigned street promises to beckon the community, offering an escape from the drab grey of the inner city into a lively realm where urban dwellers can unwind. Anish Kapoor brings an Expressionist touch to infuse the atmosphere with creativity, joy, and unadulterated relaxation, inviting all to engage their imagination. The lane will unfold as an interactive passage of light and sculpture, featuring a public coffee/food stand and a connection to the Art Bar—a haven for Sydney's pedestrians and city workers to revel in the artistic splendour.

SITE ANALYSIS
Barrack Street & George Street, Sydney CBD
-
The Commercial Tenancy is located amongst George Street, whereas the Public Laneway is located on Barrack Street.

-
Both are situated within a 5-minute walk from Martin Place and Wynyard train stations, as well as having the Light Rail within a few metres.

-
The Public Laneway lacks any natural light due to its position between tall buildings that enclose on it.

-
The Laneway isn't sheltered and will require some form of structure and natural shading.

-
Barrack Street was permanently closed to transport vehicles, making it an ideal area for an outdoor interactive art exhibition and bar.

PROJECT INSPIRATION
Anish Kapoor is a British Indian sculptor specializing in Conceptual Art and Installation Art. Born in the Bombay State of India, Kapoor worked and has lived in London since the early 1970s to study art.

Anish Kapoor is extremely passionate about the manipulation of form and space within a sustainable environment, which allowed him to pursue his passion for art and design. Many of his sculptures appear to fade away, disappear into the ground or distort the space around them.

Stainless Steel Sculptures
Stainless steel is a popular material choice for sculptors to use because of its durability and strength.
My inspiration was primarily Anish Kapoor for his Stainless-steel use as this allows the reflection of light and presents a manipulation of form and space to distort its environment.
This enhances public interaction through its mirror-like façade.
